Being with God in the journey of life is a transition and change within itself. Similarly, some memorable events are is the rite of passage. In which we have learned to release, open the baggage of our feelings. Releasing baggage here means setting free closed thoughts in our mind. Open yourself.

The Reverse Readings

obstacles, difficulties, defeat, Personal transition, resistance to change, unfinished business

The boatman used to sail the boat in the river, he faces many obstacles and difficulties. In the same way, you might be facing difficulties in your life. However, without giving up, you have to be ready for the personal transition. The resistance to the change within you will be in the mind itself. Whatever happens, do not let your work be an unfinished business. Finish every work, which you have started.

Six of the swords

European Tarot card study points:

A man is pushing a boat in a river, where the water is not so deep. The man is helping a poor woman accompanied by her child. The woman and a child have wrapped themselves by cloth. No one is looking at the card reader. The six swords are in a standing position in front of the boat.

Ancient Indian Tarot card study points:

The Indian sailor is confident enough to cross the rough river, Ganga. He has covered half of his body. His name is Kevat. He is helping Lord Shri Ram and his wife Sita along with his brother Laxman to cross the river in his boat. Kevat carries six swords. The boatman Kevat washes one leg of Lord Shri Ram, the other is in the soil. Kevat gets very sad due to this situation. Seeing the difficulties of the boatman, Lord Shri Ram stands on one foot. While washing Lord's feet Kevat requests to take his head's support. Lord Rama kept his hand on the head of Kevat. Thus Kevat got blessings. Then Kevat request Lord Rama to help him to cross the 'ocean life'.

(Please read the wonderful story of Kevat and Lord Ram.)

Lord Sri Rama with Sita and Lakshmana decided to cross the river Ganga. Kevat came to Lord Rama, bowed himself with intense devotion. Kevat asked whether he could wash Lord’s feet before he stepped into the boat. Guha, a friend of Kevat, told him to wash his feet after he climbs in the boat.

Kevat was adamant and told Guha that he would like to wash Lord’s feet before he gets into the boat. Guha was a little angry at his stubbornness.

Then Kevat explains his feelings to Lord Rama “Lord, my boat is the only source of income as a boatman, to make both ends meet. So let me please wash the dust on your feet before you step into my boat.”

Lord Rama smiled looking at Sita Devi and remained silent.

Kevat continued, "Lord, I know that the dust of your feet changed a stone in a woman. My boat is made of several pieces of wood and if the dust of your feet fell on my boat, I am afraid the boat would turn into several women corresponding to each piece of wood. I sincerely cannot take care of any more members of my household. I am requesting to wash the feet and make them dust-free before you step into the boat. Please be kind to me.”

After washing his feet Kevat places his hands on earth and asks Lord to first keep his feet on his hand before stepping into the boat. This way he washed all his sins with a touch of the Lord's feet.

After washing the Lord’s feet, Kevat ferried across the river. As soon as every one alighted from the boat, Maa Sita immediately withdrew a ring from her finger and handed it over to Lord Rama, to pass it to the boatman as his charges.

Lord Rama, " Brother, that is all we can pay you for your kind service. Please accept it!

Kevat deny, " No, My Lord! I can not accept this from you." Lord Rama, " Why?"

Kevat, "Because people of the same profession do not charge each other for their services. A barber never accepts payment, for cutting another barber's hair.

Lord Rama, " Brother, how can you claim we have the same profession? You are a boatman and I am….

Kevat, " Lord, both of us do the same job. I ferry people from one shore to another. You ferry people from the ocean of attachments (Bhav-Sagar), to the ultimate salvation, in the journey of life. How can I accept payment from you? Prabhu! I don’t want anything, when my time comes, take me across the ocean of attachments (Bhav-Sagar).

The Lord was overwhelmed at this devotional request from Kevat, that he blessed the boatman. Later, the ferryman reaches ultimate salvation because he serves the Supreme Lord! Let’s offer some devotional service to Supreme Lord.
